  • Creetown Plant Swap
Creetown held it's first successful community plant swap Saturday 1st May at Adamson Square. Residents and locals to the area brought along plenty of garden and vegetable plants and seeds for all to swap and share. This initial event was organised by Creetown resident Kevin Dodd  who is also the area co-ordinator for Creetown Carbon Action.
The next community plant swap will be held on Saturday 29th May 10.30 A.M. again at  Adamson Square in Creetown.  All are welcome and encouraged to bring along any plants, seeds they wish to swap or just to have a browse.
Free seeds may be available for those wishing to develop their green fingers as the focus is on using, swapping, and sharing what the community has, within the community. Kevin can be contacted via email at kevin_creetown@yahoo.co.uk

About Creetown

Creetown, originally Ferrytown of Cree, is a small town of about 750 people in Dumfries and Galloway (South West Scotland), on the north side of the Solway Firth. As the name indicates, it was once a fishing village and at one end of a ferry across the River Cree estuary to the former county town of Wigtown.

Internationally, it is best known for its Country Music Festival and for being at the centre of filming for that unusual film The Wicker Man.

However, the town is also in a central position for visitors to Galloway, Scotland's equivalent of Devon and Cornwall. Creetown is halfway between Dumfries and Stranraer, but is set back from the A75 trunk route, preserving its calm.

Visitors staying in Creetown have excellent access by road to the many local attractions, as well as excellent views across the Solway and the Cree.
